I originally bought these as barefoot deadlifting shoes as I needed traction, which worked well. I took them with me recently for backpacking, which helped a lot when I didn't need boots and walking through creeks and rivers. The rubber sole grips well; the material is thin but hasn't torn or broken apart. For being water shoes, though, they do not dry fast, which is my only gripe as they would remain partially wet all day after I finished crossing a creek/river. For the price, you can't argue
