Good customer service. Tear off the protective layer if you are not happy with. it is temporary and is not fabrication failure. enjoy your purchase. These are very nice looking shoes. My son has worn them on a few occasions and he says they are comfortable for him to wear and they really look great. He gets lots of compliments on them from people who have seen them and admired the shoes and wanted to know what brand they were. They couldn't believe they weren't a high end brand that you find in the likes of stores in beverly hills. These are nice dress shoes. They look great, the stitching is nice, and the sole appears to be good quality. These shoes look good in person. The photos in the product listing accurately represent what you actually get. The stitching and finish are excellent. The quality all around is very good. The soles are rubber and traction feels good, though I've only used it on dry ground so far. I ordered my normal size and the fit is as expected. Comfort is decent, but not perfect. My only complaints: 1) The back of the shoe is stiff and I can feel it rubbing my Achilles area. Maybe it will break in as I wear it. In the meantime, I will probably wear a heel bandage or some other type of padding. 2) There's a protective layer on the soles with a sticker that says not to remove the protective layer until you are sure you won't return the shoes. The problem is that I was not able to make out what the sticker said because it is black lettering against the dark brown color of the protective layer. The lettering should be white to make it easier to read. Thankfully the shoes fit and I won't have to return it.These are very attractive shoes. They arrived nicely packaged with individual dust bags and a shoe spoon. As others have noted, there is an annoying protective film that comes attached to the bottom of the soles. I was, however, able to remove this eventually with a razor blade and quite a bit of effort. Because of this annoyance, I am deducting half a star for an overall score of 4.5 out of 5.The shoes themselves look great. The first wear was a bit uncomfortable, but as with any leather shoes, I'm sure they will get more comfortable as they are broken in. I was pleasantly surprised to get a compliment the first time I wore them. This is actually the second pair of Journey West shoes I have reviewed and I am just as happy with these as I was with the original pair.Overall, the fit is as expected. I didn't need the shoe spoon to put these on, and they felt like a typical size 13 to me.All in all, I'm happy with the quality of these shoes and think they're a great value for the price. Only time will tell about their durability, but I will update this review should something major happen. My 14 year old son loves to dress up EVERY day. I am not exaggerating when I say that he wore these shoes for EVERY day of 8th grade and they are still going strong! He loves them and they look so sharp and nice. These shoes are pricey! So you should expect a high end shoe and that is what you get. The shoes look good, they look durable, they are true to size and they are comfortable. The look very nice, I think the black version could be more casual but I don't think the tan version is as casual. The tan color is definitely a dressy shoe because of the color gradient. The gradient is more pronounced than it appears in the product description so I added my own photos. The shoes are very stiff and I found them difficult to put on, so it's a good thing these come with a shoe horn. I definitely needed it. Thinner socks might help get them on easier. Hopefully the shoes will soften up and become less stiff over time. But once I got them on my feet they were comfortable, I did not have any issues with comfort due to their stiffness.WARNING: These shoes are **VERY** slippery when you first put them on. I very nearly fell over a few times because of how slick the bottom is. However, this is not because the shoe itself is slippery. The soles of the shoes have a protective layer on them so that you can walk around and see how they fit, without damaging the bottom of the shoe (in case you need to return it). Once you are sure the shoes are the right size, you can take this protective lining off the bottom of the shoe. These shoes really should come with a printed page explaining this to people because 1) I am sure this will cause some people to fall if they aren't prepared for it. 2) I am sure a lot of people will never take this layer off because they don't realize it is even there. There is a small sticker on the bottom of the shoe explaining all of this but I bet most people won't even read it, even if they see it. The sticker is very easy to miss and easy to ignore even if you see it. I've attached a photo of it for reference. The shoes arrive laced up and come in two small cloth bags that you can either throw away or continue to use if you want a little extra protection for the shoes when you aren't wearing them.If you like the way these shoes look and they fit your budget, I would recommend them. When deciding on buying something I greatly depend on reviews from others, so I hope this helps you!My son needed some new church shoes to wear to church on Sunday and man, these are some nice looking shoes. They look good and very expensive. He has only worn them once--they are a little too big still, which we bought him intentionally shoes that were a little too big because he grows so fast. The one time he wore them, he said they felt good and they looked super nice on him. For him to wear once a week for 2 hours to church, these are perfect.
